Big Boy!

Today Timmy went for his one year physical. He is 32 inches tall and weighs 31 pounds, 3 ounces. His head circumference is a whopping 20 1/4 inches! The doctor says he's a healthy big boy.....like we didn't know that! Timmy now stands by himself for up to a minute before he sits down, and loves clapping his hands whenever you say "yay!". He says a few words: uh-oh, mama, daddy, and some version of Isaac. And he knows one sign: he knows how to sign "more" when he's eating. The doctor said we should teach him the sign for "all gone" or "enough"! HE really is a sweet baby and we are very blessed.

Happy Turkey Day!

For Thanksgiving Day we were invited to spend the day with our friends, the Barbers. They're not barbers, that's just their last name. Mike and Pam have become great friends of ours in the last few months, and it's almost freakish the way we all get along as if we've known each other for years. They have 2 girls: Maddie (pictured above with Isaac) who is 4 years old, and Chloe who is 10 months old. It's cool because our kids are almost the exact same ages. Anyhoo, we spent the day stuffing our faces and watching football at their house. It was so nice to have someone to spend the holiday with; it just doesn't seem like a holiday to me unless there are at least 10 people around.
Then Friday Pam and I got up early and went shopping. I always thought people were crazy to go out on "Black Friday" but now I get it. Oh, the deals to be had! I didn't pay full price for anything but my lunch (no, Burger King doesn't have holiday specials!). I got almost all of my shopping done. So now I just have to stay out of the stores and not buy anything else until Christmas!

I just realized I never let ya'll know how my mom's surgery went. She did great, and is healing extremely well. It must have been the excellent care! She's been able to use only minimal pain meds, so she' smuch more mobile than she was last time. Two days after her surgery she was able to shower and get dressed all by herself. And we were able to go out to dinner that night, as well. Considering she didn't leave the house last time for a week and a half, I think she's doing awesome!

(Don't) Let it Snow!

Last night we got our first real snow. We got about 2 inches where we live. Last Thursday (yes, the day I came back from beautiful, warm Florida) it snowed, but not enough to amount to anything. It's nice today....sunny, but cold. The high today is supposed to reach 32 degrees. Yippee!!! Tomorrow is supposed to be nasty, though. High of 30 degrees and snowing all day. Yuck! These are the times I really wish I still lived in Florida. (hint, hint, Maurice!) Isaac is thrilled. He loves the snow and the cold weather. Who's child is he, anyway?!!!

Today everyone left to go back home. Timmy and I took Elma and Shelli to the airport while Isaac was at preschool. Isaac was very sad that everyone had to go back to their own homes. He especially misses his cousin Anne. It's fun now that they're old enough to be playmates! Timmy is enjoying being a one-year-old. His favorite part is riding front-facing in his carseat. He likes being able to see where we're going rather than where we've been! It's fun for me, too.....I get to watch him now in my rear-view mirror and play peek-a-boo with him at stop lights.

Timmy's first birthday!

Today is Timothy's first birthday! I can't believe how fast the past year has flown. Today was also Timmy's baby dedication. In our church babies are not baptized or christened, but are dedicated to God. The parents vow to raise the child in a Christian manner and teach the child about God. It's basically a christening without the water! In the picture above you see Pastor Rob (who performed the dedication ceremony), Maurice, Timmy, Sarah and Isaac, Anne, Grandma Overholt, and Aunt Shelli (who is also Timmy's godmother). After church we went out to lunch with the family, Pastor Rob, and the Castners (Mary's parents). Then we had to scoot home for Timmy's birthday party!

Timothy had great fun at his party (once he finally woke up from his nap!) He had some help opening his presents (Isaac, Alex and Anne were happy to help). Then he got to eat his cake! He dug right in and made a great mess. It was so fun!
I do believe Timmy was very proud of himself and the mess that he made. It was everything a first birthday is supposed to be! Although I think Elma (Maurice's mom) had a small heart attack when she saw the mess that Timmy made. It's okay...that's why God made washing machines!

Maurice's family is here in Rochester for the weekend. Today Maurice, his brother Matt, and sister Shelli took Isaac and Matt's two kids, Anne and Wesley, to the park to enjoy the sunshine. You never know how many more days of sunshine we have left this time of year! Here Isaac and Anne are playing on the merry-go-round.
Apparently the merry-go-round is for kids of all ages! Matt just can't get enough!
Shelli and Anne enjoyed some "girl time" on the swings.
Isaac and Wesley had a great time on the dinosaur bouncer. What a fun day at the park!

I'm in Florida right now spending some time with my mom. She's having shoulder surgery tomorrow and asked me to come take care of her. She had a similar surgery in April and it was pretty rough on her. Hopefully tomorrow's surgery won't be so bad. I flew into Gainesville Friday night and have been spending some time with my mom and siblings. I've actually seen all of them! Not at one time, but that's still quite a feat. Norm was up in Rochester earlier this week, and I also saw him Friday night. He came to the airport with Mom to pick me up. It was good to see him! Yesterday I went to the mall with my sister Helen and my mom. We found some great clothes for Helen. It was so much fun spending "girl time" with her. Grace and Rachel drove up from Tampa yesterday afternoon so I got to see them a bit as well (and John, too). Today was pretty non-eventful. I went to church with Mom......interesting place. It's actually the place where we went to church as kids, so it was weird to see all these people from when I was like 8. I really miss the boys and Maurice. I wasn't able to bring them with me cuz I'm going to be busy taking my mom to the surgery center and doctors appointments and such. Can't take a baby with me then! Timmy turns a year old in one week. I can't believe how fast time flies! Isaac is so cute...we were talking on Thursday about how I was going to Florida to take care of Nana and he said he didn't want me to go. He said he was going to miss me and started crying, then I started crying and we were all crying. Apparently that cracked him up, so he started laughing. Now when we say I miss you, we have to laugh and that makes it better. I'll be back in Rochester on Thursday....I'm counting down the days!

I'm glad I finally have a few minutes to update the blog. It's been a crazy week...I have no idea where the time goes. It has been so warm here in Rochester! It's nice, but it's throwing me off a little. Usually it's reather chilly by now. We had a very nice weekend. Audrey and Sidney (Timmy's twin playmates) turned one on Saturday and had a very nice party. And I got to go see a movie with Trudy Saturday night. It was nice to get out to the movies....I rarely go anymore. We saw Prime which I thought was going to be pretty good, but I think they showed all the good parts in the trailers. I don't know if it was the acting or editing or ciematography or what, but I thought it was rather lame. Can't complain, though, cuz Trudy's friend got us in for free! I love free stuff!!!! My brother Norm is here visiting today. He works for Harris Engineering and had to come to Rochester for some kind of business thing. So he's staying with us. A short trip....he got here last night and leaves tomorrow morning, but I'll probably see him again this weekend. I'm going to Florida to take care of my mom during her shoulder surgery, and Norm will be in Gainesville to celebrate his and my other brother John's birthdays (Norm's is Thursday, John's is Friday). It's good to see him. He's all tan, though, which makes me jealous. The benefits of living in Florida!

Halloween at the Overholts

Isaac was Spiderman this year for Halloween. He has been looking forward to Halloween for the last few weeks. This is the first year that he's really been into it. He and Maurice went trick-or-treating for 1 1/2 hours! They went with two other boys in the neighborhood and their dads. Isaac got a ton of candy!
Timmy was a lion this year. For those of you that remember Isaac's costume when he was a year old, Timmy's might look familiar! Poor baby....when he's old enough to start remembering I'll let him get his own costumes. Until then, he gets Isaac's old ones. I think he had fun....he and I just went to a few houses closest to ours. He was soooo tired! He was a good sport, though.
Maurice dressed up as a 30-something white man. Very convincing costume, don't you think?!!
And of course I was Lucy again this year. Hey, if Timmy has to recycle, then so does Mommy! We got more trick-or-treaters this year. The last two years have been dead! Last year we got one kid (from across the street). This year we had probably a dozen or so. Our street is made up mostly of old people who don't hand out candy, so the kids from the neighborhood don't even bother. But we've had a few new people move in this past year, and it's getting better. We had a fun Halloween!
